Fiberglass Surface Mat

Glass fiber surface mat is a lightweight mat made of randomly laid, ultrafine glass fibers (generally ≤10μm) bonded with a latex or powder binder. It is specifically used as the surface layer of composite materials, enhancing appearance, corrosion resistance, and interfacial bonding.
It is commonly used as the outermost layer of products in processes such as hand lay-up, winding, pultrusion, and SMC molding.

Material properties

Smooth surface

The fiber is fine and uniform, and the resin has good wettability after laying, which can cover the internal glass fiber texture. The finished product surface is smoother and more delicate, suitable for subsequent spraying, electroplating, decoration and other processing

Corrosion resistance

Effectively isolate the resin from the external medium, improve the surface chemical resistance and anti-permeability, especially suitable for chemical storage tanks, pipelines and other highly corrosive environments

Interface bonding strength

Increase the transition bonding strength between the surface layer and the structural layer, improve problems such as delamination and hollowing, improve the overall structural performance, and extend the service life

Permeability

The fiber structure is loose, which facilitates the rapid infiltration of resin and effective exhaust, prevents air bubbles from remaining, and improves the density and quality of the product.

Soft and comfortable

It can flexibly cover various complex curved surfaces and edge positions to improve mold adaptability, especially suitable for special-shaped products
